1. We will watch some key film excerpts in class that showcase the theme of air/atmosphere use and pollution.
2. Please make a list of 5 environmentalist questions that you see portrayed in the film. Please note the run-time for the moment that you see the film addressing each of your questions/issues.
3. Write a short paragraph about your understanding of each of those questions or issues.
4. Post your questions and paragraphs to the Course Discussion Forum before class.

SLO related to ethics of energy use and cycling. With reference to movie “Wall-E,” and the theme of Energy Use. Students in Introduction to Environmental Sciences (EVR 1001) will appreciate the difference between metabolic energy, that biological organisms cycle from the food they consume (or produce) to power the activities of their own bodies, versus “extra-metabolic” energy that comes from fossil fuel or alternative energy sources and is used or cycled to power technology of human societies. Students will relate the role of extra-metabolic energy in Wall-E’s activities on the planet and human lifestyle in off-planet survivor spaceships.
